ABOUT ST. THERESA HEALTH CENTER – WENDA

This health center is owned by the congregation of the Missionary Sisters of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus of the Catholic Diocese of Iringa. The center was established following a request from the residents of Wenda village who wanted the presence of this service, as these citizens found themselves struggling greatly to find healthcare services. Therefore, in unity, they requested assistance from the Sisters of the Congregation of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus to come and establish the service. After these Sisters accepted their request, a village leader Gaudensio Malangalila and his family donated an area measuring 26,668 square meters, equivalent to 7 acres; we thank them for their generosity. This center began providing services in 1998 as a dispensary, utilizing the house of a village leader Gaudensio Malangalila. The center was officially registered by the Ministry of Health, Elderly, and Social Welfare on July 31, 2008, as a health center; with registration number 111231.The center primarily serves the residents of Mseke ward, whose main activity is agriculture. The center has a total of 43 beds and provides outpatient services to an average of 17,800 patients and inpatient services to 1,946 patients per year. Furthermore, due to the availability of specialized medical doctors and laboratory testing, this center has been receiving patients from outside the district, such as Mufindi, Iringa Municipality, and Kilolo, as well as from various regions including Morogoro, Dodoma, Mbeya, Njombe, Tanga, and Dar es Salaam.
